Moonshine

Postby Heffernan » Thu Jul 07, 2016 1:21 pm

Hello,

with all the recent events and finding loads of Sugar, can we introduce Moonshine?

This is Moonshine, the American Redneck Alcohol, could use either the Destillers and Alchemy Table or a brand new device to produce alcohol.

Sounds nice, destileries are terribly underused at this point in time.

What a terrible ass idea. Whats the point? What does it do? You know there is much more involved than sugar and the wrong type of distiller thats currently in game. Sugar is only a very small part of the complex art of shine.

Additionally this isn't a "redneck" alcohol.

Edit: I like the general idea but wtf is JC going to do with a post saying HEY ADD THIS DURPPPPP. Put some actual effort into a post so you can get JC motivated and excited to work on something.

at 1st you need yeast and sugar to turn it into alcohol. After some point of fermentation concentration of alcohol will be to big (to be certain about 18% solution) thus it'll kill off fungi responsible for fermentation (and fermentation will basically end at point this point).

Then comes in distillation which is used to make more concentrated alcohol like vodka (or Moonshine). For example in poland we use potatoes to make vodka, in some other places in world people use other starch rich plants like rice or corn but you can use any sugar rich component to make alcohol (Molases is great example).

Edit: Also give some reason for adding alcohol because one thing which comes to my head right now is just getting wasted in game (maybe restoring inspiration in exchange for some debuffs or as some way of making methanol to poison people with bad alcohol)...

This is a great documentary on making moonshine. He is 100% hillbilly but he was considered the best in making it.

If there was alcohol to be added to the game it should be what is called small beer. Make it a long process where we have to grow hops, grain, sugar and other flavors which would average out to make purity beer. We then have to cook it in a precise manner which would be timed when you need to add certain ingredients and then let it ferment. Beer would act as a better version of tea with bile restore and slowly restore inspiration. Higher purity equals better restores. different ingredients give different effects maybe adding lemons to the game would give a chance to heal disease for an example. Messing up a step of the process or adding something terrible to the wort will give you some terrible ass beer which will make you sick, cursed or dead. This would give everyone the chance to make their signature beer and give the players a TON of things to explore in the beer making process.

gee putting together a idea sure was hard!

Not sure about death unless you plan on putting bleach in your beer. I may just do so after reading 80% of the posts on the forums though

Small detail but I meant like you get very sick which would lead to death.

Can we just delete the thread and make this the suggestion? Heff sure seems to be churning out suggestions recently.

I do rather like Dallane's idea. It has a fun purpose, seems fairly balanced, and there's plenty of details to get started with.
