Regarding "In-game" discussion boards

Maybe it isn't useful as now, but technically, every server should have separate House of Burgesses,The Trade-Wind and Planters & Pilgrims sections, since they will all pertain to different communities.
Another way to differentiate the contents of the thread may be using tags in the title of the threads. I still find the first solution better, though.

Yes/No, remember there will be server travel at some point. Although there will be some community distinction, it will be similar to the way that north/south end of the map have different political geographies. Doesn't quite need its own forum though because you can still travel there if you want to have some fun.

As for tags we (mods and moo) already agree those are useful and we'll be trying to nudge someone to implement them on the forums.

For now, a separate trade and recruitment forum will be useful until travel is possible, but that may only be a month away. At that point, there really won't be a need unless travel between colonies is so expensive that you're better off paying higher local prices.

Mh, i would assume traveling wouldn't be that cheap, though, and that you shouldn't be able to travel with large quantities of items. I mean, new players wouldn't have any chance at all to compete if old players could bring all their riches and items with them on every new server that get opened.
It should be fine with rare, costly items, but just those.

It's really not safe to assume anything. In hearing the few comments from the devs about it, it could well end up like EVE's single universe system or it could end up as you describe it (more or less a "server transfer" fee as some MMOs would put it with no items getting transferred across realms). That's not what this thread is about, and is most definitely a worthy discussion on its own.

server travel is a ways off, in the meantime each needs its own forums.

should have their own forums anyway regardless of server travel or its fees, i can travel to the town 15 minutes away to, and when i got there i would discover that said town has its own politics, newspapers and organizations. so "glurp, not needed because you can eventually **** out 50 bucks worth of silver to transfer mang" does not make any sense at all.

Reviving thread since mine was locked and all, I agree with the notion. If for the trade forums only as a start so we can view more than 4 trading threads per page on that subforum.

Alternatively these three links
Plymouth
Jamestown
*****

Could be used, and probably should be put somewhere in the trade forums as easily accessable as possible. It's up to you if you want to make those search lists common.

Pros to subforum:
- It becomes rather cumbersome to filter the server threads and/or search for [server] every time I look for tradings, it might also increase the server load slightly from the searches
- Titles will be less cluttered with tags, might allow more space for other information such as buying or selling
- Main trade forum could still be used for global trading or multiserver setups or miscellaneous threads

Cons to subforums:
- Administrators might have to do some work for a change to move all the threads

because your idea makes no sense with server travel
