Stalls of boston.

I want one, yet the chances are i will never own one. Why ? Because claimed hording occurs or people buy them, leave them empty but pay the bills so no one else can benefit from them.

Possible solutions :
1) empty slots can be used by any person, but a tax is paid to the stall owner, and the item will only last a max of 7 days in this slot. If unsold It could be deposited in a "withdraw only bank" like the Silver bank from $$$.

2) You must be the mayor of a village to own a stall

3) Lets be serious, unless you have a good foothold in the new world, and are in a village, the chances are very few people will want / need / afford a stall, so introduce a biles requirement of 50+ to rent a 6 slot stall, 100+ to rent an 8 slot stall, 200+ to rent a 10 slot stall or something along these lines.

3) If a stall remains empty, unedited, or left unattended, for more than X period of time, the stall is instantly forfeited regardless if you have paid the rent or not, because of your paying rent on a stall which is empty 24/7 the only reason u have it is to horde it so no one else can use it.

4) Introduce a larger amount of stalls, and make the size of them smaller, so more can fit into the area of boston.

5) Privet stalls, which must be assembled in a specific area, must have items to sell, and lasts 24 hours only max, a small tax is paid for sales, but a player can only do this once per week, per account or such.

6) I would say village stalls, but unless faster forms of transport is made, that will not be worth while.

Yes i want to own a stall, yes i check them daily and yes, i have come to terms with the fact that i will never own one due to such high demands and horders than i should learn to live with it unless my thread actually sparks something in the devs minds.

I think everyone pretty much agrees that the current stall set up is retarded. It seems to be a short term thing until a permanent solution is put in place.

Seems like there's a few threads already on what to do about stalls. These threads should probably be consolidated.

I don't think more stalls is the answer, but I think it will help in the short term.

I think that players should not buy entire stalls, but slots in them. And not forever but to place single item type.
If there was a slot free player would be able to put an item and select a price and time amount for it. Each slot would have static price, plus player would have to pay a percentage of total price he selected. At each point in time this player can add more of this specific item (has to pay for them as well) or withdraw

Let's say that static price would be 50s per day, with additional fee of 10% of items value per day.

Player wants to put 20 iron bars for sale, with price of 70s for each, for 3 days. He would have to pay 3*50s + 20*(10%*70)*3 = 50s + 140*3 = 570s up front

If all items are sold before the time passes then some part of this variable amount is returned. In the above example if last bar was sold exactly after 2 days then player would get 140s back (1/3 of the amount, added to money from sales at the stall) and stall slot would be freed.
The same would happen if player would withdraw those bars back from the stall before the time runs out. However, if not all items are sold and player doesn't withdraw them from the stall before time runs out then items are dropped on the ground and stall slot is freed.

If some player wants to buy all slots so that others can't use them then he would have to pay large amounts of silver to set high prices for long period of time, which wouldn't be too good for him. However if he sets low price then someone else may simply buy items out to free the slot.

So far I can only see good points. Any cons? Apart from complicated development required.

What about the ability to build stalls outside of boston? That way people could set up trading hubs, and if the stalls in boston are crappy then it would be a reason the visit another trading hub. Obviouly people would have to deal with issues of security, and the ability to destroy stalls, but I don't see that this would be all that difficult to implement. I would love to have the reason to go somewhere other than just teleporting between my base and Boston, and I think we should encourage real cities in this game rather than just strongholds. This would be a huge boon to new players who would have much better access to more trade goods that they can't buy themselves and it would drive prices down.

shouldnt even be stalls in boston, if folks want a vendor stall it should be in a player constructed hub with all of the risk that entails as it was in HH

Stalls in boston is a massive joke.

selling my xtra for 10k btw. i'm sick of not using it other then as a safety deposit box

There were no trade hubs in HnH, nobody used stalls in HnH, and people traded with each other only thanks to village teleport, allowing them to get across the map quickly with their goods. At least that's how it worked at the time when I played.

Apart from this, peaceful players want some safe trade mechanism, raiders want everything lootable / destructible.

you didn't play much hnh then. the current world market place worked very well for a long time until the revolution hit and it was abandoned

And how did people travel to and from this market? What did they pay with? Who secured it?
