Adding things to compost

Hi, After cleaning my coops I went to the compost bins to add feathers. Using a feather and holding Shift key I clicked the bin. The feather went in, but then the pointer changed to a dropping, even if there were other feathers in the inventory (not backpack). I know both types of items can be use for compost, but I wanted to use only the feathers. I think all the items of the same kind should be taken first.

it is done in the reverse order of adding things into you inventory

so if you added feather 1st into you inventory, then the poop, the poop will be taken out first.

so simple reverse the order you add things into you inventory.

I came up with the same explanation, but if I would do something like that after a few hours since I picked them, I doubt that I will remember the order. Plus, there were 2 feathers, obtained by plucking the same turkey... I can't imagine how I picked a dropping in between them:)

You didnt, you picked the first feather up by hand to put it in the bin so that even though the poop was the last thing to go into your inventory it was not pushed to your hand untill the first feather had been composted.

this

and TBH, the game remebers ALL the orders of things you put in.
ive once tested this by adding 20 items to a chest in a sortof rendom order. and a month later i scrolled the items out in the exact reverse order i put them in.
so even after 2 crashes and 4 reboots and 1 patch it retained the order i put stuff in a chest, so 1 session inventory should be no problem.

hoorah for arrays of items.

What I meant, was that "I" can't always remember the order. Yes, I agree with you, the order is saved for all the items. However, shouldn't it be saved for items of the same type? If I chose the feathers from the inventory it is clearly my choice to pick them, not all the possible items that might go in the compost (other scenarios have the same issue). For this case, when all the feathers (in the correct order) are done, it could pass to other kind of items (on the time line) and finish with them.

just alk to an empty chest scroll out your inventory and add it back in the reverse order you want to put it in the compst.
alternatively, put stuff you dont wat added in yourbackpack. you can only shift click stuff from you standard 16 slot inventory.

It's not a bug. It's intended. The question is whether or not it's better to move a single item type or just dump it all. It really comes down to a player experience question, and as such, is more appropriate for the Ideas forum. This was a system in place from Seatribe. At this point, I'm not sure if the player base is used to the way things work and would rather it stay the same or even if JC and crew would be willing to change it.

The option could be to get rid of all the mass move commands and just force you to move items individually. I can think of certain games like that....

wrong forum; moved to I&I

I'm pretty sure latikai's client does it based on item type.

Maybe its just me, but if there's something I don't want to go in a bin, I put it down first. That way there is no confusion
