A lot of people are worried about the upcoming changes nixing alt vaulting. I think the new system has its merits, and am excited about the new patch, however, I do see a couple problems with it that I think should be considered. One of these problems concerns players taking a break from Salem. I think everyone can sympathize with the idea that sometimes life gets hectic, and you need to take a break from things that are eating up your time, to focus on more important real life issues. This new system seems to put these players in quite a difficult position.
What I propose is the creation of bank deposit boxes in Providence. This would not be an at will bank box, allowing safe storage for anything someone wants to store, but instead would cost a flat fee for a specified period of time. The bank would have very limited space, 3-5 slots only. This storage would allow only 1 access per renting, terminating the first time the box was accessed at all. The idea is that, a player could rent this, and store the couple of valuable items they would hate to lose while away from the game, but being expensive enough, that simply using it as bank storage would be foolish. Seeing as these boxes are rented in Providence, rules could be in place so as not to allow criminals to access these boxes.
Alternatively, perhaps it would be possible to create some kind of lock out on a players account. If a player knows they dont have time to play for the next month, they could suspend their account allowing the safe storage of some items until that period has elapsed. Excited to hear your feedback and further suggestions on these ideas, and perhaps other ways to protect players who simply need to spend some time away from Salem, without losing their most valued possessions.
