So I think it is great that I can leave things in the oven for ages and they always come out perfectly cooked, but I was thinking, what if we got a small bonus for taking things out right at the right time, within seconds of it being finished that gave us a small bonus, say 5%. To make it harder to get you could make it so that "a watched pot never boils", ie if you are looking in the oven or pot then items will not cook so you can't look at it and remove it as soon as it changes, you must set a timer and open the door right when the pies are ready. This could be coupled with another bonus for eating freshly baked food, any food that has just been taken out of the oven receives a 2% bonus if it is eaten while still hot/warm.
The same principle could be applied to the smelter, if you quickly empty and refill a smelter then you need 1/3rd less fuel as it is already "up to temperature".
Perhaps the bonus I have suggested are too powerful, or not worth the effort if the window of opportunity is too tight. But I thought it would add a nice skill based twist and reward players who put in a little extra effort.

Just a quick not on the "watched pot never boils front" it would be REALLY annoying if bajgiels didn't boil when we were looking at them, I think perhaps this should just go for baked goods.

Things overcooked in oven could just turn into burned ones - you may recieve few pieces of cial insted of your pies = )

God no, HnH did that and it was a terrible idea.

The one reliable way to do this would be alts than run bots that just watch stuff. Can't beat a bots precision... And yes I understand that looking at it won't help but the bot wouldn't care he'd just have the cook time and look at the right moment. And if you randomize it nobody will bother.

This is why we can't have nice things

I really love the suggestion of a lower amount of fuel required for smelting, as the furnace is already preheated.
Sounds like JC could have some really good fun with these suggestions, been a long time since someone put something like this forth.
Well done.
