Remapping keyboard keys

Postby anox » Sun Sep 23, 2012 12:28 pm

Hello,

I use an AZERTY keyboard, in lieu of a QWERTY one. The WASD keys to direct one's character make little sense to me then.
It would be great to at least be able to remap those, or any for that matter.
(as far as I know, it doesn't look like it's possible at this point).

Thanks.

You can use your own keybinds with the BDSalem client afaik.

I would appreciate it if the traditional client gained this ability.
It's been neat to see the evolution of a game. Salem has come so far, and still has far to go. Although frustrating, I think it's been an experience worth the effort.

If the WASD keys are bindable, please make the menu and task ones bindable too.

More on the re-binding of keys.

I just had an extensive chat session with a player who uses a QWERTY keyboard. I use an AZERTY one.

Basically, I can't type without hitting keys that are linked to various in-game actions, such as Hiking, turning those actions on. The end result is that after a while and some time spent walking around, my character fainted, as I hadn't noticed the switch to Hiking -- the same happened with some combat positions, and other sorts of movements.

Another issue, although not as important, is that when I type in the chat client my characters makes sudden jerky moves forwards, or backwards, or to the sides ... as I press the A or S or Q letters, etc.

So yes, it'd be great to let us rebind the keys, but it'd be even better to make the game AZERTY compatible (if that's the problem). Not being a coder, I have no idea how easy it would be to achieve that. Moreover, it's not an urgent matter. Still, consider giving it a shot.

Thanks from all of us, non-QWERTY peeps.

It wouldn't be hard, just time consuming.

In the meantime, has anyone tried a third party key-mapper that works at the OS level? I know they're available, but it's been a while since I've dug around for them.

"Stupid" seems to be my middle name. I KO'd yesterday when I tried swimming, with the new animation on etc. Lovely and fun to see, but it distracted me from keeping an eye on my humours, which are low as I'm a noob. So I KO'd.

"Not a big deal" you might say. But it was, as I was only a few minutes away from my camp site, with not 1 or 3 Indian feathers in my bag, but 5 of them. Wealthy I was!!! Finally wealthy'!!!
Well. No.
I was KO'd ... and poor, once again.
