Mile Markers

Let me say I endorse (and enjoy) there not being any official Salem map. However, I still do find myself getting disoriented from time to time while foraging outside of Boston.
Yes, obviously I do know there are ways to avoid getting lost, but I do believe that reducing travel grind ever so slightly would benefit the game. So the goal of my suggestion is to preserve the complexity of current travel while helping players, especially new players, orient themselves within the game.
This could be accomplished in one of two ways. The first being that the devs could place mile markers at particular points within the area which the wilderness guide drops players. I'd suggest at places where trails cross rivers or other trails. A mile marker would simply be an arrow that points the direction to Providence and the "Miles" to Providence.
The second solution would be to have mile markers as a build-able structure.

Mile markers were fairly important navigational features in colonial New England. See this link for historical precedent.
