I searched and it seems that the world does not exist in three dimensions, i.e. it is not possible to build vertically. But wouldn't it be great if you could build towers to shoot over walls at attackers. Then towns could utilize a "star fort" design instead of just wall layering.

Would be nice to fire over walls. Star fort might be alot harder to defend tho

Alternatively defenders can do some kind of 'mount' on their own walls to shoot from them while still being protected (maybe partially) by them.

If you can shoot at an attacker then the attacker can shoot at you.
Having wider walls that you can actually walk on would be pretty interesting. (Two tile wide version maybe.)

yeah having a wider wall where shots can be traded between attackers and defenders would be great.
Also a wall mountable grape/canister/scatter shot cannon would be fun.
