Nailing down liftable objects

Postby Potjeh » Tue Sep 18, 2012 12:33 pm

We all know that raiders will take everything not nailed down, so it occurred to me - why not simply nail down more of your stuff? It would consume nails, naturally, and lifting the object would require vandalism and a moderate amount of phlegm to break free.

It could also be handy for giving people access to some infrastructure without having them steal it. For example, you could nail down a tanning tub so that people with theft permissions can make and take leather, but can't take the tub itself without leaving scents. I imagine this functionality would be useful for setting up publicly accessible cursed infrastructure when witchcraft is in, for mana farming.

Would be great to have this. People wouldn't have to hide everything in a mine fortress

How are you going to nail something down into the dirt?

Would need some kind of paving or wooden surface for proper fastening.
I never managed to figure out something clever for my signature on Paradoxplaza, and I doubt I'll do it here either.

OK, so just add sharpened sticks to the cost and problem solved.

That does make sense, my bad missing that.

I agree this would be a useful feature.

Don't know about anyone else, but the last time I went camping, I found the stakes pretty easy to pull up out of the ground.

You need barbed stakes, or something. Erh.

Add some good siege mechanics instead of nerfing.
You can call me 'arh'. No needs to distort my nickname :)
