I see many threads about different issues in different places with purity, it's not just one small problem or one big problem.
You are assuming that:
1) Everyone who writes anything on the forum about purity has knowledge of said mechanic.
2) All of them have also the ability to make a distinction between personal dislike and dispassionate analysis, writing only about the latter.
3) All of them are able to point out a real flaw in the mechanic.
To your reasoning I will only reply that the majority of said individuals are not even developers and I'm fairly confident that not even a decently intelligent person, let alone an idiot, is guaranteed to know how to improve what Jorb and Loftar could not. So I wouldn't be so confident in rooting an argument as definitive as that solely on the players complaints on the forum, after all there are players that complain about mechanics even in games that are mightily more successful than Salem.
