because an easily acquired purity sword worth 300 - 500s with a 10% bonus modifier based off of the wielders stats is an entirely different mechanic than being able to continually add minor upgrades without a cap to a hunting weapon that has the potential to become a "town heirloom" worth hundreds of thousands.

In that case wouldn't it be better to use an actual weapon that would be used for hunting during a 16th century hunt instead of a weapon that was primarily used for person to person combat?

Dude you missed the point completely. A katana was a suggestion, but the whole idea is the ability to improve XXX weapon with XXX steel bars.

I don't think I did... I am saying you are suggesting for "hunting" improving a blade, which you suggested a new weapon "katana", to improve the damage. I have seen my fair share of samurai movies and at no point have I ever seen a samurai running around in the woods with a katana chasing a deer or a bear with the intent of hunting it with a katana. So my statement here is why would you want to improve a sword weapon for the purpose of hunting an animal. At no point does a katana for hunting in 17th century New England make any bit of sense. Not to mention in 17th century New England they used muskets, bows, crossbows, and lances to hunt. Would it not be better to improve on/implement on of those for the purpose of hunting instead of suggesting Japanese weapons of personal combat? Sure iron/steel can be used to improve it to make it better but again. Why a sword when that makes no sense to hunt with. The halberd makes more sense than a sword let alone a katana...

I started this thread so please stop talking about katanas, it was just an idea, it can be a yoyo if you want. I think darwoth got the idea with the town heirloom thing. Its op if it one shots darkenbears to but oneshot them it takes thousands of steels.
Since Darwoth is a C&D master, maybe he could bring it up 8-)

The first sentence of this thread is about a katana...

Sipo wrote:Maybe something like a katana.

Hence the reason I was suggesting something other than a katana... Agree it would be nice to have some changes to hunting but I think that is what the bow & arrow is for when JC decides to implement it.

This would be the perfect scenario.

If you want to be technical and depend on one of the professionals. It should be Tulgarath to bring up the idea since he is the Hunting & Hideworking not Darwoth since he is the Cloak & Dagger professional.
