yes, i was referring to both.

and having to do a task that reduces insanity is a chore.... if i mine/smelt and then feel like digging.... i should be able to go dig with out having to study/sharpen sticks first... or every time i find a lost colony... witch is what im having to do right now because im trying to rebuild since my village is one of the villages darwoth wrecked.

and the fact that there is no meter or any thing to SHOW that you gained insanity "once studying blood shards before I was aware those raise your insanity" makes it that much more of a chore... because you have to memorize what adds and what subtract insanity... but you have no idea how much.

and if any one figures out the values the devas said they will change the values to intentionally ***** with the data players gathered....

There has been no data to gather so far. However the words "tiny", "small amount", "good bit", "great deal", and "huge amount" were used in the original insanity post.

It took me 14 logs to gain a single madness level when the patch was first released. basing that off of a 100 point system on the first madness level that comes out to 7.14 points of madness each rotten log opened with a gnome inside. So from there I would say "good bit" means 7.14 so "small amount is probably 3, tiny is probably 1, great deal is probably 10 or 15 where huge amount is probably about 25. That is how I have always thought of it. So by that logic it should take about 34 wringing of the necks of squirrels or turkey to gain one level of madness or smelling about 4 satin salts.

I killed about 40 squirrels the other day and never gained a madness level. Killed a squirrel cooked one pine nut killed a squirrel cooked a pine nut. Worked fine for me. BTW squirrel meat no longer regains nuts & seeds. :(

I don't know, I've been playing for like a week maybe and I haven't gone to madness level 1 yet

it seems pretty easy to keep in check.

It's actually really easy, especially considering that new players forage and cook all the time to boost their biles, which is what keeps insanity at bay in the first place.

leaving afk is the worst enemy right now, I left for one hour afk and my madness went up from 1 to 4!, new players are unafected I believe, I never got madness before even if I left afk for about 8 hours(went to sleep and forgot to turn off the pc and the game).

And another day again got madness to 5, I stiil did study/whitting/rolling bread gathering flowers etc went afk for about 10mins or so, planing boards, was too much over encumbered and walking too long to put back all the boards, madness increases while walking to the chest :D

So I guess insanity is increasing over time, Yes this feels unfair and should be rebalanced.

imagine what would happen if I forget to turn off pc now and go to sleep myself? the next day I'll be dead?

Its possible that the one hour you had left afk was the blood moons +2 madness. There is no way that you could go from madness 1 to 4 in an hour, you had to have been doing something. Maybe you licked moldy boards from all the dry boards you just picked. Yeah...don't lick moldy boards.

salem is a harsh game and clumsiness will get you killed 9/10. If not from madness then because someone wanders about when you are AFK.
That said, the server will initiate a clean log-out when possible in the case that you seem to be AFK.
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

yea that might be true, but I still don't care about that :D, I leave afk in my own claim most of the time, this game is simply made too slow paced so ppl are forced to leave afk, or go sleep every 10mins, which is very annoying, but again for example cleaning cotton takes about 30mins, crafting cotton cloth 15mins, smelting ores takes exactly 40mins and so on, so what am I supposed to do?

I already know the consequences what will happen to my farmvile If I die, when wandering once I saw a few other abandoned farmviles, and a dead body in the middle, which means he either dead from madness or killed, the same end might happen to me :D

i won't argue against cotton cleaning but smelting hardly fits in there: just clean cotton right after you fire your smelters, or go for a hunting trip or similar.

no you didn't understand me, seems like ur happy with current madness system, I know I can I do something else while smelter is smelting, but whatever, this was just an example.

Madness lvl6! the rate is ridiculous at which it grows, this time I kept track what exactly I was doing, Harvesting, replanting, reprocessing of farm stuff, gathering tons of flowers, so at this point insanity should be zero, did some whitting and study a few items just in case if its not enough, while smelter is smelting and theres is nothing left to do, I take some break and go afk, I come back when smelter finished smelting, my madness is increased to lvl6, woila!

don't go afk. log out.
Why would you even WANT to be afk rather than logged out, if you don't have outstanding scents? all it does is endanger you to anyone that might pass by.
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.
