Gluttony can become quite hectic because you have to make decisions and click quickly as gluttony points drain is always active, and each second lost on not eating only contributes to this drain and invariety level increases. It gets much worse when player is lagging, or missclicks food.
The idea is simply to stop the drain and invariety level growth while not eating. So that players don't have to worry about quickly clicking to not lose time, and would have some to make better decisions.
