Use skeletons

Postby Gromar » Thu Oct 16, 2014 7:33 pm

I was wondering, why it is not possible to use human skeletons as input for construction or recipes.

I initially thought about making bonemeal. But maybe it would also be an option to put them on a stick and place them outside of a claim.. or even seperate the bones and use the skull for some inspirational craft...

I know we discussed about use of dead bodies. I would just like to raise the use of the skeleton in specific.

My thought is they might eventually have something to do with Witchcraft and/or the Devotion system. Death is a spiritually powerful and significant thing in folklore and religion. If you wanted to have ingredients for spells or especially nasty and destructive potions, human remains would be a good candidate. From a game perspective, this is also true because someone has to DIE for that, which is big.

On the religion/Devotion side, burying people in a prompt and proper fashion would be a Devout action, and a contingent responsibility on the God Fearing Pilgrim community. They would naturally be inclined to quarrel with Witches who might prefer to use the body for Stuff, or who could derive some benefit/slap the congregation in the face by desecrating burials and/or robbing tombs.

The probably with using bodies or skeletons for anything is it would just result in alt spamming.

Well yeah, but you do pay some price for using Murder, even if it is on an Alt.

You could also make it so a character with a low scalp score was basically, not very useful for harvesting ghoulish ingredients from (kind of like how you don't get that much from scalping them, really.) whereas one that was highly developed would be more useful.

On the devotion side, it would more be a matter of obligation to deal with dead characters properly, than a source of actual benefit.

Oddly enough using the body parts of a skeleton for inspirational or witchcraft items (with some minor exceptions) doesn't really feel right for this game imo.

I do think it would be cool if a grave was a buildable structure tho. It would have to be placed over a sketeton, require a certain number of stones, and would just be a gravestone and a mound of dirt. But you could click on the tombstone to read it.

I like that one, too.

We can just let any newbie with less than 500 scalp score produce no bone from their skeleton. (osteoporosis resulted from them not glutton enough)
You thought I quit.
