Probably GitHub is down, since both ender's and latikai clients are failing to connect to the GitHub files.

You can fix this by using a batch file to start the game. Simply create a file called stuff.bat inside the folder C:\users\youruser\salem\bin\ , edit it and add in the lines :
For ender's client -

javaw.exe -Dhaven.resurl="http://game.salemthegame.com/res/" -Dhaven.defserv="game.salemthegame.com" -Xms512m -Xmx512m -jar salem.jar -P

For latikai's client -

The issues must be intermittent then. A townie said he also got the issue heff mentioned on ender's client, could be it was the wrong launcher though idk.

Just use .jar file and all works fine. Its the jnlp that doesn't work.

indeed, it seems that github was down for a bit - it happens.
lachlaan posted the solution (launching from the .jar rather than the .jnlp), which you can also find in the first post.
When running from the .jar you should make sure not to simply double-click it (this will launch the client without passing it the correct server address, and you will never be able to connect to the server). I suppose I should update the client's default addresses sometime soon.
