Hey droj, I was wondering if you or imrielle have tried to convert the map tiles from RGB color to an indexed color palette (16 colors)? I converted a folder of 26000 map tiles with the following results:

Time: 20 mins
Before: 361 MB / 26,191 files. SalemMapTool load time: 80 secs (old AMD x2 64 2.0ghz/4gb ram)
After: 79.8 MB / 26,191 files. SalemMapTool load time: 24 secs

Would this help load times and server bandwidth?

Caveat: It is my understanding that resizing should be done BEFORE converting to indexed color palette. I also have no idea if there are other pitfalls related to the conversion and/or resizing.

The link isn't working for me either.
I think you should be using a different host for the maps, maybe 000webhost or something.

Keep up the good work, I wish i'll get to see the map someday. =)

I will look into this once development starts to take off again.
