The dirt texture is still showing the default (also doing this with other texture packs). Any idea how I can fix this? Also, YOU FREAKING ROCK! Thank you!

Every file has a "version number", and if the central server says that a certain terrain's texture is using a higher version number, then it will download a file in the cache which will over-rule any custom graphics you might have.

I'll see if I can write up a "Graphics Modding Tutorial", but until then the easiest thing is for me to keep my pack up to date by modifying version numbers when they change.

Hmm...I wonder if it looks for a specific version number, or just the largest version number? If it's the latter, then I can just make everything version 999 and have everything work forever. I doubt it's that simple, though.

Nope, file version-numbers have to match. There go all my dreams of future-proofing the GFX pack.

Please report any textures which are not getting replaced.

Good job. Next step - work with blender to cut some polygons from models.

Thanks. Given that Boshaw's .res unpacker can't produce the models in a manipulable format, I think I'll just stick to trying to figure out how to get fewer plants per farm field.

I wait other res unpacker tool. http://www.havenandhearth.ru/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=1435 - this topic on ruforum.

About fewer plants. You need to find Salem\res\lib\plants.res , unpack it. Decompile class files. In this little part of code you can change plants per farm field to 1. After it compile it back and pack it back.

No wonder I couldn't find that file! I was restricting my modding efforts (to keep my sanity) to just changing stuff in the gfx folder. :lol:

I may investigate the tool you linked to, but my Russian language skills are a little bit...rustij.

Hi,

i take the gfx pack and copy it to "C:\Users\name\.salem\cache\res\gfx" but nothing change if i start client. Whats wrong? :)
