1 x 1 Fields Mod updated

Postby alloin » Wed Jan 23, 2013 5:01 pm

Here's an updated mod for the 1x1 fields (12/02/2013)

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/65731657/1x1%2 ... 2-2013.rar

Extract the file to <name>\Salem

field.res goes into C:\Users\<name>\Salem\custom_res\gfx\terobjs
salem.jar goes into C:\Users\<name>\Salem\bin\ (replace other one)

You might need to clear your cache again after applying this mod.

How to do this yourself after a patch?

1. Download https://dl.dropbox.com/u/65731657/field.res
2. Put field.res in C:\Users\<name>\Salem\custom_res\gfx\terobjs (if the map doesnt exist, make it)
3. Download https://dl.dropbox.com/u/65731657/growingplantsres.rar and extract the files
4. Open C:\Users\<name>\Salem\bin\salem.jar with WinRar/7zip and place the 2 files from step 1 (GrowingPlant$Factory.class & GrowingPlant.class) inside salem.jar\haven\res\lib\plants
5. Close WinRar/7zip and start the game :)

But when the fields are properly patched it's very possible that all overlapping 1x1 fields will be nuked. So if you're planning to use this bug - know the dangers!

Why do you need to modify salem.jar? plant.res does not work?

Don't you need to modify .jar so that only 1 plant per field is displayed?

for GrowingPlant$Factory.class me thinks ;-) shows only 1 stalk instead of them all

I know WHAT changes they put into jar file. I just wonder why they are in jar file, and not in res file.

Could someone explain to me how to add the 1x1 tiles and these one plant things? I clicked on the link, but its a windows file, blank on mac. Have no idea about res or jars. I've barely figured out how to change or add to my radar.

I figure it is because the fields have several copies of the plant*.res on them, which are randomly distributed upon seeding the field. The changes to the jar are that only one copy of the plant is created, and always perfectly in the middle?
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

Just checked - works perfectly without jar modification. You just need to modify plants.res file.
