Turns out that to enable debug mode you just need to add -d to command line.
So no need to make any updates/changes to .jar to see fps counter.

Instructions edited in first post and salem.zip updated with 1 more working terrain texture and new run.bat.
So now this mod should work as long as loftar/jorb won't change some textures to newer version.

Thank you so much for sharing your work. It is a big help for some of us. :D
I think this will really helps the devs in the long run.

I too got an error when trying your mod. First, when I try to follow your instructions with the run.bat, I got the message, "Client too old."

More importantly: I got a java crash on load with Enders.

Through trial and error, I narrowed the culprit down to fen.res. After deleting this file, I am able to load without errors.

I am running Win7, x86, Java 7, Enders client.

Here is a screenshot of the area where I got the error:

Use salem.zip from first post and you won't get "Client too old" message. Salem2.zip file from next post/page contains old version of salem client which won't work anymore. In salem2.zip which you downloaded there are more 'faulty' textures which will make you crash.
Delete your custom_res directory and redownload mod from first post(only 100% working textures in there) :)

Maybe you can help me with a little problem I have.
Image
As you can see I made a minor experimental change in the UI. My purpose is change the big area where the humors are, for a more discrete, smaller one.
But every time I fail. I already replace the files with new png and nothing work.
Can you give me any suggestion?

thank you! thank you! thank you! I finally can run salem and even walk! on my intel GMA 945 and 504 DDR2.
in case if it could help:
if you run java 6, its dont save jar files, and bat file doest find salem.jar. Then open C:\Users\a\AppData\LocalLow\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache\6.0\48\7c9bc30-52f8b9a2 file like this with winRAR, and simply move "\Salem\custom_res\gfx" directory from archive inside.

Belcanzor sorry for late answer. I saw your post after coming back to home and was meant to answer in few hours when i'll get more time. Unfortunately I forgot :/

Some of ui element size is hardcoded. Some you might be able to change. To easly see if it'll just stretch stuff you want to change make some 1px size texture and replace. Not really sure what you wanted to change from that pic :P

No problem.
I want to make UI less exagerate. The area where the 2 faces are too big. In the pic the arrow point where the "buy silver" normally are. I change that as experiment but I left that way. Maybe later I put a tiny coin image.
Thanks for your answer. I try your idea as soon I can.

i have a problem with crashes in Boston. I cant simply walk! I think its mainly because of music, that starts to pla. its beautiful, but i still cant play in Boston with other players. I see them, do few steps, then music starts to play, and client crashes. I already install '[FIX] falling maple leaves crash' and 'LowGfx.res mod'. Any suggestions?
