In my previous pack It was all about pure minimalisation, this time I took the perfect balance. (In my eyes) Nevertheless this unnoticeable pack still reduces your average load with heaps.

*This pack only includes tile changes & minimap changes

Data difference

Just to give you an example how much it actually helps:

128x128:

Thats 1717kb.

48x48:

Image

Thats 375kb, (1717/375 = 4.58)

Tilechanges

Now we know how much smaller the files are with 48x48, lets look at the graphics:

Zoomed out

128x128:

48x48:

Very hard to notice any difference.

Mid zoom
128x128:

48x48:

Still hard to spot the difference.

Zoomed in

128x128:

48x48:

From here its visible but its still not bad to look at.

Minimap changes:

Reduced the minimap tiles from 62x62 to 10x10 or less. This will save you heaps of time whenever you want to make your own map, it will speed up the process & less data in your salem folders.

New minimap:

How to install:

1: Download the zip file from: https://www.dropbox.com/s/xcxp33j3tnax7g2/48x48%20%28Tiles%20only%29.rar
2: Extract alle the files to your salem file so to: ''C:\Users\''Username''\Salem'' (In my case my username is Administrator so for me it is: C:\Users\Administrator\Salem)

Everything should be fine now, please feedback.

Sorry if this sounds stupid..

but how does that work? I did not replace any files, I just added new files which are not even in the same place like the old grafics files... how does the ender client know they exist?

I have a new folder in the Salem directory now: 48x48 (Tiles only)
Inside there is another folder: Custom_Res
Which finally contains another folder: gfx
And another folder... : tiles

Ah, there you go. xxx.res files in this folder.

Now can they remain where they are, or do I have to move them somewhere?

Thanks
Gromar

the folder named custom_res/ should go into your Salem folder, so that it ends up being C:/Users/<name>/Salem/custom_res/gfx/tiles/...

Both Ender's and mine (as a result of copying ender's code :) ) will auto-detect files in the custom_res folder at that location and will use them over the built-in resources if they are available.

I should indeed note that this only works for Enders/Kandarim's client, atleast on this install method Image

Really appreciate what you did here. However when using either the 48x48 tiles or the 1x1 there's a very annoying delay opening containers which looks like the following

Image

Is this something you too have experienced and do you know any way to work around this?

Its a pity to hear that, I haven't experienced anything likewise.

Alright investigated and this has nothing to do with the modification itself, I might look for a way to improve this later on.

You can remove your picture now Darwoth.
