Can't See Mouse Cursor on Linux

Postby dgarman » Sun Dec 22, 2013 5:05 am

I am trying to play Salem on my Lubuntu 13.10 laptop, and the mouse cursor disappears when trying, both in game, and at the login screen. I have tried using both openjdk with IcedTea, and Oracle JRE, and get pretty much the same result. Any Ideas?

Anyone? I also have this problem. I'm trying to return to the game but now use Linux and this is a major play-ability issue. The cursor is totally invisible in the menu, visible over blank / unrendered areas while Jamestown is loading, then invisible in-game. It very rarely blinks into visibility while in-game, but is not playable. OS is Linux Mint 16 (based on Debian).

Switching to the AMD drivers resolved this issue for me. Yay!

Well, a more general notice:

Gaming on linux is already very hard, but PLEASE enable those proprietary drivers when you do ^^
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

Same problem here under Linux Debian 64 bit with this Java Installation:

>>> java -version
java version "1.7.0_95"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea 2.6.4) (7u95-2.6.4-1~deb8u1)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 24.95-b01, mixed mode)

Mouse cursor disappears over the Java Window, though sometimes it seems to flash into view for a fraction of a second, but only while moving it.
Cursor is visible inside the window, but only when the java window does NOT have focus. One can see that by switching back and forth with ALT-F3 and ESC.
The cursor functions normally and spot-on, even though it is invisible.
Same symptoms with the official and with Enders client.

I don't think it's the system, since it works perfectly otherwise, but the setup is like this:
Thinkpad W701
Nvidia Quadro FX 2800M 1GB
Nouveau
Debian 64bit 8.4 Jessie
KDE

Game looks perfect otherwise, but is unplayable with invisible pointer.

does this also occur with oracle java? I've a Linux setup myself now, both for client work and actual playing, and I don't have this issue.
But I do recall having had to install oracle java to solve some client-related issues.
