Crops losing progress in unrelated influence bar

I'm aware that the possibility of this bug happening is recognized on the wiki, but I found no mention of it in the bugs and technicalities forum after a quick search for "influence" and did not see it reported on the bug tracker, so I'm posting it here again to get some confirmation as to when it might get fixed, considering that high tier crops are the only way to go after purity was downsized. As seen in the screenshots 3rd influence bar goes up, as would be expected for cotton, by the proper amount. On the other hand the 4th bar goes from 1 to 0, and I wish I'd taken screenshots of the other fields as well since they too went from 10 to 5 and so on. Any info on wether this is an acknowledged bug still, wether it's being worked on or not?

it's definitely an acknowledged bug (and I'm really not sure why it hasn't been fixed yet: seems easy enough), for one: check the in-game help item on farming. It states how the system should work. It has, however, been like this since the beginning of time (at least closed non-commercial beta :p)

Bah, I have edited farming page in november to emphasize the fact this might NOT be a bug and an intended feature instead. Devs themselves said that they are aware of this and they are letting it stay that way but they are open to other suggestions.

However someone edited it out. After over 8 months of this mechanic being in place people still prefer to call it a "bug", and provide inacurate info on the wiki :/

Still, there is rotation table left, which I made. And it is based on current mechanics where crops drain all bars except the one they raise.

well, the hint in-game still refers to the system as described in the wiki, so I'll stay say it's a bug, not a feature :| It's a thin line, though

Wiki info aside, they should at least fix the in-game hints to reflect the way they decided to let the system function. I say "let" because being "aware of this but letting it stay this way" is mostly indicative of laziness in fixing a bug or figuring how to properly balance a mechanic. Perhaps it was indeed a bug, they knew of it, but let it stay that way because at the time purity could reach 100% and an unintentional bug-nerf to achieving higher tiers would at least slightly mitigate the broken purity mechanics. If that's the case though then perhaps they should have a look at it again given the change to the purity mechanics, or at the very least re-state their stance on it, and reflect that same stance in the in-game hints. The hints should take a whopping 10 minutes to edit if typing at granny speed, and could've been modified in any of the past patches from november until now if the current influence mechanics are indeed intended. Thanks for the info though Procne, as a new player it's frustrating to find discrepancies between the wiki, forum posts and actual game and not have any go-to source of info that can clarify it, so I appreciate that some of the old players can shed some light on the situation when the devs are .. hopefully too busy making the next patch awesome ¦]

Loftar did indeed just reconfirm what you said Procne :) Apparently it is an intended mechanic but as you said, he's always open to other ideas. I also mentioned the in-game hints and hopefully he'll have a look at them when he has time. So any mod can feel free to lock this as it's been resolved, and I'll change the wiki to reflect the current mechanics for influence bars tomorrow, if i don't forget.

It forces the farmer to grind hay in order to have any chance to achieve the tier 4 crops. So I guess that is the intention.

Otherwise given time you can reach tier 4 just by growing crop 1 until bar 1 is full and then switch to growing crop 2 until bar 2 is full then start producing tier 4 crops.

Now you have to put some serious influence on the field to counter the constant drain

Should probably note that the rotation table only works if you pump influence bare minimum >200% each planting
