How to fix admiral-kjol (v6) resource error crash

It took me hours of trial and error to figure out how to fix this, but I've finally done it. People have been encountering this crash for nearly a year now.

1. Install Ender's client
2. Download admiral-kjol manually
3. Run Ender's client until you crash
4. Go to [user]\.salem\cache\res\gfx\borka
5. Use the admiral-kjol you downloaded to make the three files in the picture (Copy the file three times, rename them as shown. I don't know which of the three files fixes it, just that they do.)

6. Run the game. If it still crashes, copy your [user]\.salem\cache folder to [user]\Salem, overwriting the empty cache folder there.

The problem is that this is a pretty random resource crash. It can crash on this file now, but will end up crashing on something else later. It doesn't really resolve the overall issue.

It's a workaround. People have been having this problem since the middle of last year and this is the first workaround anyone's come up with. I'm sure there will be a lot of thankful players out there who can actually play the game now because of this.

But if you wanna minimise it after giving people useless advice regarding this crash for months, that's cool.

I'm just trying to be informative. I don't want to see people coming around saying "I'm having this issue again." So am I minimizing it? Yes. There is no sure fix for this problem. That's the core of it. I'm not sure what can be done server-side or with the client to improve things, but outside of that, there's little that can be done.

If a person really wants to use this workaround, best to just download the whole of the resource package like this. The problem with this is if textures or other parts of the resource files are updated, the person will be unable to play yet again. If you're having this issue repeatedly, there's a network problem. In the three years I've been playing Seatribe games, I've not had this problem more than once or twice, and clearing the resource files out fixed it. Same goes for most everyone else. Those that I've known that have had this issue and finally resolved it did so through some troubleshooting of their network connection. Problems have ranged from ISP side to things such as bad network cards and routers.

Technically, you could do this for any delayed resource error. Or you could just delete the whole .salem directory and rerun the client to redownload any and all resources that may have been corrupted while downloading.

The admiral jacket is just the most common one for people that crash at the starting docks, that is why it comes up so much.

Quite right, stax. This started drying up on HnH because of Sacre and Daji with the graphics mods. Everything (or pretty close to it) was already in the download folders. However, jorb wasn't updating graphics on HnH unless something new was added. Graphics are still being worked on here and many aren't in a final state.
