Crashed while boating, can't log back in

Postby XSI » Sat Mar 23, 2013 5:11 pm

I was out on a boat to pick up a friend, and I ended up crashing.
This happened multiple times before, and usually I just logged back in to continue my journey, but this time the game is refusing to let me log back in. Instead, it asks if I want to return to my homestead without my inventory

This is kind of a problem, since I was carrying a full set of metal tools with me, and the boat is kind of important too since it will take forever to get my friend down to my place without it.(Not that it doesnt take ages by boat, but it's faster. And that thing is expensive)

The message is gives is "The position where you last logged out is not available, because that location has become occupied. Would you like to restart at your homestead, losing everything in your inventory?"

It offers a yes/no choice.
I'm not pressing anything.

I think the game, for whatever reason, decided that my boat is now in the same place as I'm at. And somehow I'm not in the drivers seat anymore(?)
Can someone help me out with this?

I can't be entirely sure on this, but this is my best guess.

If you get booted or crash and can get logged back in fast enough, the server doesn't really register you as "gone", so when you get back on, you're still in the boat. I've heard this occurs quite frequently. If you don't get back on fast enough, you're removed from the boat and logged out and now have an object at the location where you got booted at. Instead of logging back in seated in the boat, you're now standing (or swimming) there as if you had been carrying the boat instead of riding in it.

If your friend is in the boat, it may be possible for him to leave it and get back in to drive it and move it. This would be the fastest solution. I really don't know what else to suggest to you unless you have an alt nearby and can go pick the boat up and move it. I don't know if logging back in over water lets you log in as normal, so I don't know if you can salvage your items. Getting ported back and losing inventory over water will almost guarantee all will be immediately lost.

My friend is not at the boat, I was on the way to pick him up

Since it was a long trip, I can't make an alt to go get the boat.

As soon as I crashed, I logged back in. This worked pretty much every time I crashed(Quite often, sadly), but this time it didn't. There were less than 15 seconds in between the crash and me trying to log back in

I don't know what happened

But I just logged back in, and I found myself exactly where I crashed, in the drivers seat of the boat, with my inventory still full.

Thank you whoever fixed it, if it was fixed by someone and not just automatically done by the game
