It only says "starting application" some info about the publisher and the download bar keeps empty... please fix this

You mean it starts the download, download bar is displayed but it doesn't move?

Try installing via the Ender's client: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=50

I'm not sure if it will work, but it should if its not a firewall issue.

for me the download bar with get to be about 75% complete, when it says "Verifying Application at the top" and would stop moving there. Ender's client gets stuck when the code says this:

What version of Java do you have? Might this be some kind of Java issue?

They go in: "C:\Users\YourName\Salem\" - on Windows, anyway.

thanks a lot that actually brought me to the Salem game screen. However whenever I try to login it says "Connection refused: Connect".

That could be a port issue, this thread has some info on ports: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=3250
Also, check your firewall and make sure Salem is allowed, and that Java is not blocked.

well I spent the time and learned how to finally open the ports for TCP and UDP. After I did that thought it still sais "Connection refused: Connect", any other suggestions?
