I had a pile alone in the vast grasslands give almost 50% moldy boards and then a pile in the forest adjacent to many containers and trees give all dry boards

Agreed. Closed for now. If there is a bug found with this, someone can message me and I'll reopen this discussion. (Thanks for linking that JinxDevona.) In the mean time, there's no need for a mechanics discussion in two different threads.
