After chopping the tree for about 10 minutes real time, all I could do was laughing when I saw this:

Definitely a bit of a reality/immersion bug and makes for an interesting shot. However, the fall of the tree is determined where you stand. Looks like you could have moved your sawbuck and fell it on the other side avoiding the issue.
