Overheating of graphics card

Since the GUI update I have a problem with overheating graphics card. It's doesn't matter which client i'm playing at, because problem occur at every client. I've been trying to play on BDSalem, Ender, Classic and even Low Memory Client. After 30 minutes of play temperature of graphics card rapidly increased up to 90C and my laptop rebooted. I'm not the only one who have got a problem with overheating. I personally know 2 players more.
I'm using Nvidia GeForce G210M.

Dumb question first: Have you tried turning off/ minimizing all the graphical options?

Cooling pads (bought or makeshift) are your only other real option here.

Also take note that the default client and the ender's custom client now have an 'Antialiasing' option since the gui update. If you've enabled that (and also have AA enabled in your nVidia driver) then it will put a greater load on your videocard which might make it run hotter. Especially in a laptop where ventilation is tighter than a desktop pc.

Hmm I got similar problem... what graphical options?
I got only shadows and AA in game, is there any config file to make more custom graphical settings?

@up I always play at lowest possible options because i don't like any kind of lags and i don't bother with graphics. Cooling pad helps only a bit. With them i am able to play about a hour till reboot. I tried dismantle the laptop and clean the inside, but it is clean. Before GUI update i don't have any problem with it.

EDIT: It's not my graphics card fault too, The Wicher still play smoothly and don't cause any overheating.

What kind of frame rate do you have?
If it's higher than 60, then try enabling vertical sync.

Doesn't mean a thing. One game can cause overheating, another won't. Blame nVidia and ATI for too many performance tweaks for individual games. You can almost always trace this to a faulty driver.

I'd argue it is the graphics card's fault either way. Non-faulty nVidia cards simply do not overheat and cause reboots. If there even is a cooling problem to begin with (which there shouldn't even be, since the cooling solution should be designed to handle the chip's TDP), they clock down to prevent overheating, so the fact that it's not doing that is already indicating that it's faulty.

Sometimes rebooting is caused by CPU when cooling fails too.

I am not sure what is causing high temperature on my laptop nvidia or cpu (i5 2.6GHz).
For me 80-100% cpu usage (only one core is so high) by java when playing Salem is standard.
I've never seen MMO with low cpu usage, so maybe that is ok, non-mmo games like Skyrim and SC2 works nice on same hardware.

Ender slowed down after update 15.11.12 on my hardware, maybe that will help in something.
Is there a way to make more custom graphical settings (I got only on/off shadows and antialiasing)?

Same problem here with laptop.
using nVidia G105m.
I have posted a reply to the thread "Salem hogging CPU" also.
