Item stuck in the wall

I was batting a mad hare and was climbing down the cliff. Got knocked down while climbing down and all of the items are now stuck in the side of the wall with no way to get them. Am I missing something, or should they drop a hex away or have some way of getting the items since I spent time to actually find them again.

You're screwed, currently anything next to a cliff can't be picked up. Hopefully they do something about it.

Instead of climbing, use water. Animals won't cross deep water. This means swimming, though, and that's subject for proper game mechanics sometime in the (near?) future.
