Disappearing house

Postby Dave311 » Thu Nov 22, 2012 2:27 pm

I was making some planks and my house was blocking my view while I was trying to click on the sawbuck so I rotated the camera and my house disappeared.
I thought it was a visual glitch at first but then realised I could walk through where the walls should be.
I tried logging out and back in and it's still gone.

Sorry I probably should have clarified, is there a way to get my house back or have I just lost it and I have to build another one?

Did the house decay? I'm not entirely sure of decay rules in Salem, what has been implemented and what is planned. One thing you can tell, though, is that the structure should start turning red before finally breaking. Having the house or other building on an active claim should prevent decay. I have heard of a couple of edge cases where a house isn't fully on a claim still taking decay damage (and would be vulnerable to wandering folks looking to smash things).

I don't think it decayed it, it had only been built for about 2 days real time, surely it takes longer than that?
I guess it's possible someone had been hitting it because it's not entirely on the claimed land but when it disappeared I was actually present at the computer and it happened right in front of me, there was no one around and hadn't been anyone around for a couple of hours at least.

The house didn't appear to be red or any visually different to normal.

It decayed. The house needs to be fully covered by a claim to prevent it from eating decay ticks.

It wouldn't have decayed that much in only two days though, someone must have been taking whacks at the section outside the claim. It sure would've looked red though, unmistakeably red.

I have lost stuff within minutes probably because of decay. Decay is random also the amount of time it takes it seems.
