Crashing while trying to create a new character

Postby senescal » Thu Aug 09, 2012 10:20 pm

Just got my key. Whenever I launch and try to create a new character an error occurs, gets reported and the application closes. Help!

Perhaps should be in Bugs & Technicalities section in order to receive appropriate responses and help.

I crash if I look at the screen funny.

Honestly given up try to count the ways Java 7 poops its pants with relation to this game.
It's been neat to see the evolution of a game. Salem has come so far, and still has far to go. Although frustrating, I think it's been an experience worth the effort.

Could you post the error code that is spit out so we might try to provide some suggestions?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that the error is Open GL 1280 or 1281. In addition to the error report, it would be nice to have your computer specs so we could see if there is already a working solution.

Need your OS and GPU info. Start, run 'dxdiag' tab over to display and give us the name/model of the onboard card please.

Ok, your chipset uses Intel GMA X4500 for graphics, with support for OpenGL 2.0. So it is good to go there. I'll check into any issues with OpenGL and this particular chipset. In the meantime, make sure your drivers are up-to-date, and make sure your Graphics Media Accelerator settings are set to default.

Silly me, updating the driver made it work. Now I feel silly.

Thanks for helping, everyone.
