I've been encountering a bug where the field eats lots of compost and still doesnt let me plant seeds on them. I have encountered it a few times now. its annoying because i end up destroying the field to make a new one(for space)

look at the fields upkeep, it may very well be at 600% = a crow picked on it and "damaged" it that way, buy scarecrows or make makeshift ones, or just shoo off the crows

[edit]: use a bag for seeds to plant, as you need maybe more than a stack, after planting once it drops back to 100% upkeep
