Tiles on cave entrance

Postby pberci » Sat Jun 11, 2016 10:48 am

Some days ago I wrote about a cave-in, wich covered the entrance of the next level, mentioning, that it created some unmineable tiles. As someone recommended, I created this topic just about those unminable tiles.

As visible on the picture, the entrance overlaps with some tiles, which are unminable, because they are out of reach. Still, the entrance is working. By clicking on the small corner sticking out of the wall, I can enter the lower level.

Can you describe how this cave in occurred?

If that is the case, I'm not sure of the bug. OP was purposely digging without supports to get rubble. Triggered cave ins and a cave down. It's unfortunate that it's covering the entrance to the next mine, but mining without supports is what it is.

I wasn't sure either, wether this is a bug or not, but others recommended me to write about it. The problem is, that neither the entrance was protected from spawning wall segments, nor was it destroyed by them, so it resulted in overlapping structures.

I understand. While I would ideally have tiles be unable to fall on the mine down, that's a chunk of work for a minor issue. And we can't have the entrance destroyed because then there would be a world with its entrance destroyed existing out there forever and that's just not good.

Completely understandable. The entrance is working fine, so this really just about the aesthetics. I removed a few more blocks around the entrance and I'm completely fine with it as it is.
