As visible on the picture, the entrance overlaps with some tiles, which are unminable, because they are out of reach. Still, the entrance is working. By clicking on the small corner sticking out of the wall, I can enter the lower level.

MarpTarpton wrote:If that is the case, I'm not sure of the bug. OP was purposely digging without supports to get rubble. Triggered cave ins and a cave down. It's unfortunate that it's covering the entrance to the next mine, but mining without supports is what it is.

And we can't have the entrance destroyed because then there would be a world with its entrance destroyed existing out there forever and that's just not good.
