@OP: can you try typing :whyload in the client console ? depending on the output (in the system chat tab) that might indicate there is an issue with the resource loading).

Please post a screenshot on how you type on the console. Also dont do a system restore.... Try ctrl t or ctrl e and wait 2 minutes while in game and see if things load. The game takes a lot to load for the first time depending where you live.

because, aside from your knowledge of microsoft, you don't know anything about the game client.

Both :gl meshmode d and :whyload are CLIENT console commands. I just feel bad for the guy that just listened to you.

Given that OP said whyload did not result in output, rather than stating they did not know where to type it (and after the same scenario with :gl meshmode d) I will assume he knows how to.

Console commands are available even on login screen.
It's enough to type ":" to start the console.

Seeing how how frakked wants to push OP into making system restore can some mod just ban him before he does any damage?

If you're launching the game for the first time then you have to wait for it to download needed files. If after few minutes you still have the black screen then there might be a problem with your connection to the server.

It drop's me to the login screen, after several minutes.
