I am trapped on a mesa/mountain

I just finished the tutorial to Salem after getting my beta key, and I got my random homestead.

Unfortunately though, I'm trapped on a mesa like-structure with seemingly no escape.

It says that the ridge is too high to climb, so I'm pretty sure I'm just screwed ;-;

What gives? Lol.

By Odin's beard!

You have two options pilgrim.

You can head to boston and strike out that way.

Or,

Make a new character and find another smooth stone (easiest route and will most likely land you in a better place)

Whatever path you chose, enjoy!

You can also pay 30s to the guide to try again with your current character (won't work if you've bought The Rights of Englishmen). The first one is just free, and can allow you to port to a friend's claim if you have their homestead secret,

however simply making a new character would probably be a lot faster than earning 30 silvers on a fresh character.

You can consider striking out from boston, but that will probably mean you're in for a long walk :) I personally did it like this, by the time I found my perfect place I had some decent skills and silver from foraging on the way there.
If you do it like this, rush to the 'hiking' skill which will allow you to buy leantos as temporary base to port to boston
