Issue planting myrtle oak acorns?

Hopefully I'm not doing something stupid here, but it seems pretty straightforward.

I can't seem to plant acorns in pots, despite having planted some bushes just a few days ago (first batch of bushes just started giving nuts). I tried planting some acorns from that first batch to get the purity up higher but right clicking on the pot did nothing, like it was a non-gardenable object. I definitely do have the shrub orchards skill, can plant cranberries and such, there's definitely humus and water, just can't seem to plant acorns. Might this be related to the patch?

I tried planting acorns from regular old bushes that weren't planted but same thing, no dice.
