I had logged out on a river, and when I came back on there were a group of beavers that had spawned which caused me to get the message that I need to respawn at my homestead. Unfortunately when I arrived my entire inventory was empty, is that a bug or did I miss something? I thought the message about respawning specifically stated that you won't lose your inventory.

If its on your homestead, I believe, you get the message without losing inventory. I know if you log out on your leanto, you will get the won't lose inventory message, for example. Everywhere else, if something is blocking, you drop it all. If you can, the best you can do is log on an alt and check out the area you were at, to see if it is something like a creature that just needs to move. Sometimes you crash and just can't predict where you log out, so sometimes this can really bite you.
