Build - not easy

I have a very low practical problem. When I want to build something. Right now a fish trap. Before that a fireplace, and before that a drying rack. Then I select it from the build menu (left click), then I place it somewhere (left click) and *nothing happens*. Occationally there's an error message, when the ground is not flat, that's ok. Im talking about the 20 other times where just ... nothing happens ... And then suddenly on the 21th time the build sign appear and I can add mats. Is there a better way to do it?

You are probably placing that too close to something else.

"too close to something else" - I think not. I happens ALWAYS even in large empty spaces. It is as if my left mouse click with the graphics on (like the fireplace) is determined to be a move instead of a place new build. Then the graphics disappear and my toon moves to the spot where I clicked. I use Latikai V23.06.2015 by the way.

Try using a different mouse. I had this problem a long time ago and turned out that my mouse was actually double clicking unless I clicked very slowly. The first click would "place" the sign, then the second click would cancel the build action.

"too close to something else" may also include your own character. Try to positioning yourself at least a tile away from where you want to build.
