i have tryed multiple solutions yet nothing apears to work i turned off the firewall and anti virus even uninstalled anti virus also tryed command console commands :gl meshmode d after and before login also tryed diffrent clients ender and latikai and standard cient still have no result ... i login but at character select screen just goes black i see the cursor and thats all ... i am useing a pc with gf fx 9600 gt with 16gigs ram 6core amd 3.5ghz up changed also my java to 6.45 and also the latest one also tryed upgradeing and down grading my graphics card drivers ....een tryed deleting the game files and re downloading also tryed to do all windows updates and clearing java cash im completely at a loss and fet up ... any ideas ?

This is a custom-client features and therefore cannot possibly be the case with the default client. What happens on default, more exactly?

exacly the same thing as all of em .... i get the login screen then once i log in it goes black ... and stay black .... authantication and connection complete .... it mabe is a feature for the custom clients but since all three are doing the exact same thing i figured that its probebly the same problem for all three ... i would like to add that its probebly not a graphy card chip incompatibility for i used to be able to play the game about a year ago... on this exact machine ...

While you mentioned your antivirus and firewall, you don't mention anything about how your network is set up. Most routers come with built in firewalls and can add another redundant layer that could be causing issues. The ports Salem requires are TCP 1871 and UDP 1870. not sure if this will be helpful to you or not, but at times when data isn't loading, this is the cause.

thanks for the advice but i already thought of that i did open up the ports although i thought of turning my firewall off on the router as well ... i wish it would be that simple but unfortunatly its not it ...

thankyou i think you just made me think of something ... im thinking mabe just mabe my internet distributor has a firewall running as added security to protect there clients ... it is posible and it would explaine why an other aplication that i have just tryed to test for firewalls tell me that theres a firewall up ... every firewall on my end is off so its the only other place i can think of that might have a firewall

well its nice to know that im not the only one with this issue but a ran a program designed to recognize if there is a firewall active and i did notice that even though i turned off all firewalls apparently there's still one active .. which i have no access to hopefully my internet provider will be able to turn it off .. talking with them now they are trying to disable it ..

Be good to know some technical details if this does resolve the problem if your ISP will share it. It might help resolve this issue in the future for others.

i agree but unfortunately that was not it apparently there is no other firewall ... but il be honest ... i think there idiots ... im even thinking of changing isp cause.... took 30 minutes of explaining and the guy still dint understand ... asked him to bring me to his superior ... fail again apparently there is no higher techs ... lol any how all and all to find out that there was no other firewall ...and sadly did not fix the problem .. i even tried changing my windows to a fresh install and also upgraded to windows 8 ... still nothing ... im completely out of ideas now .. im not saying there something wrong with the game but at the same time i am i seem to be able to play all other Java based games but this one ,,,
