I was walking one of my alts to one of my bases, he got bitten by a rat & got the Frontier Flux.

I arrived at the base, but had no Columbine Paste's left, so I leave my alt at the 'cure-chest'

While I made the paste's on my other character, the alt got cured just by looking in the chest. He did not take any cures.

Praise be the holy chest containing the relics of Saint Thomas!

i've had similar things happen a couple of times at the beginning. Maybe we build immunity to the diseases? At the time I had the "good" buff so I just thought that made you randomly get better. JC said something about christmas miracles when I told him, which makes me think it was intended in some way. I haven't really been diseased anymore since, not that I noticed it to go away on its own.

also: homeopathy?

put that chest on a cart, drive it to boston, put it outside boston on a claim behind a brickwall, announce it as the magic curing chest and ask 20silver entry to be cured

did you put the paste into the chest or did your character get cured while you crafted it?
Because I've noticed the same thing, with columbine paste only (so far).
Multiple times Frontier Flux got cured by just looking into a container with the columbine paste in it, without actually using it.

I find that my disease are commonly cured simply by making the cure with out taking it so there definitely is something going on, although it may simply be that there is a random chance that you will recover from the disease after X time.

I've had it happen too without taking, looking at or making a cure. It had just hit the second tick so I figured there was a small chance of your character's immune system kicking in and curing itself in the first couple of stages of disease, chances getting lower and lower as the disease progresses.
