Hello guys, i have a little issue here.
I was trying to play with my girlfriend, she was interested in this game so i made her download the client but she got a really weird bug. Whenever she log in and she tries to create a character the game crash at the black screen with the "Loading" section without any error message. I tried to make her download new drivers and update Java but it didnt work, any idea?

The server is crashed after there was a mini patch a few minutes ago it seems. Hope someone quickly gives it a tender ... kick.

Sounds like the good ol' starter screen crash, more or less. Try starting the game, logging in, but before pressing "create new character" , type in

:gl meshmode d

Then try character creation again and see if that works.

How exactly do I do that?

Possibly not a good idea to necro a 2 year old thread, but if the bug fits, i guess it's fine.

The console is brought up as soon as you press the : key, and any text that follows will complete the command, sent with an enter key.

Note that ingame you'd need to click on terrain to deselect your chat box, but in this case you need to put in the command at the login screen, or char selection screen? One of those either way. Just start the game, as soon as you're on the login screen hit " : " then continue writing the whole command

:gl meshmode d

then hit enter.

Seems to fit the profile of the bug, however it's not working.

It seems that the aforementioned fix did indeed work, so thanks for the help!


Problem:
Start up Salem, log in, at the screen where it has the "New Character,"
I click on "New Character," and that's it, nothing seems to happen.
