Mine map's edge

The edge of the mine map doesn't allow to dig more than ~250-300 tiles from the entrance. Looks technically wrong, just like a vestige of previous system which wasn't forcing us to dig so far. Players should at least be able to dig up to 95-100% ore with no artifice bonus.

Imagine that, not needing to actually use stuff given to help you to max out something. I don't think it's all that weird that you need a half-decent artifact set to be able to get top-grade metal.

I think there should be two ways, intensive and extensive. Like with tiered fields. You can make just one t3 field and then drop a ton of lime in it, or instead you can till more fields, raise their influence and just keep them up, getting the same harvest while using no lime (or just a little). The same with mines. You can dig all the way to the top quality ore, paying with drained humours, time and efforts. Or you can make a decent mining gear. There should be a choice.

I just think it wasn't intended, but no one was worried about that edge before, so devs missed it.

another question.... why do mines not connect? if i see them on the map being close to each other, they never see each other below ground... in the long term that would create a whole new world of opportunities---

because devs would need time to balance that

the dwarf patch is far far in the future if any

Edge of mines are intended and balanced. They are balanced on a diagonal not a straight line.

Square-shaped edges and circular purity spreading, you must be joking, it does not make any sense. Thanks for answer though.

What kind of educational institution produces such type of evil geniuses?

Of course you'll need good gear, otherwise those glass beadworks are useless.

That means all mines can be exhausted...

Actually you don't. Just need to dig diagonally.

Still don't see any sence in it. It's not about exploration or investigation, this is purely game mechanic, and if it 'was intended', then it had to be described in patchnotes. Tears are always nice to see, but shouldn't be collected that way, it's a shame.
