I really appreciate that you guys are trying to help. I'm a YouTube guy, I do YouTube as a job, and by some weird fluke, my Haven & Hearth playthrough ended up getting very popular. I'm the first result for "Haven & Hearth" on YouTube in many countries, and because of that a lot of people tell me they decided to get into the game because of those videos. I'm not that great at the game, but I enjoy it a lot and I'm happy that I'm spreading the word of it. If I get an opportunity to do that with Salem, I'd love to. Mind you I have no idea if a series on that would get nearly as popular as I really do think it was a fluke that my series got popular when there were so many before me, but It's worth a shot.

With how much people are pumped for August 28th 2015 when all of the new Haven & Hearth content comes out, a lot of people have asked me to try Salem. At first it didn't seem to interest me, but when I looked at more footage and read it more, it seemed more and more interesting, especially after watching a documentary on the humors and finally understanding what the game meant by all of that. It's a shame that I'm running into this weird technical issue with it.

From what little I played on PrivateTunnel, I'm already quite interested in it to the point that I'm using it's wikia to read up more on the game and I'd love to show it off to my audience and see if they like it. Part of my worry though is that people might run into the same issue I'm having and I don't really have a solution for them outside of using a proxy like I am. I mean it works, but it's not a great solution. Even on my computer it's weirdly unstable.

I really do hope that you guys are able to figure out exactly what's going on and find some kind of solution. I'm sorry I can't be of much help, I really don't know the first thing about programming. If there is anything I can do to help out, just let me know.

Here we go again. Recently, when Haven & Hearth 2 (aka Hafen) relized, some players had same problem with black screen after login.
VPN and tunnels worked as workaround before Loftar fixed it.

So, shut up Kandarim, MagicMan and Procne. I win.
And I'm upset because developers don't want to pay any noticeable attention to this thread.

If it helps at all, I have no issue connecting to the new Haven & Hearth, but I still can't connect to Salem without PrivateTunnel.

This thread has not fallen on deaf ears per-se. More-so that networking is not my strong suit and I quite frankly have been swamped with things.

For JC's reference:

Indeed. The specific thing I needed to fix was that the new tile map was so large that people having trouble with small PMTUs and/or IPv4 fragmentation never got the tilemap packet, and therefore also no later package. This change puts a local tilemap in each map-data packet instead, containing only the tiles used therein.
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.
