The updater appears to work thus

1. Checks the source code for changes

2. Then checks client if it needs an update

Issue- lsalem.jar hasn't been altered in a long while... so the update produced "no updates" and doesn't even check to see if the file even exists on the client side.

I ended having to get another player to email me the lsalem.jar file because there are no current versions available for download. Most recent I found was pre-wipe...

Someone emailed me the lsalem.jar... and now it works great... no issues at all. BEfore... fail every time and/or I could only use pre-wipe build.

The updater works like this:

-get changed date for server-side file.
-if it was modified since the client-side was downloaded, download it.

There was an issue in the code which skipped the check for client-side availability if something went wrong getting the server-side file. I worked around dropbox not supporting modified-since requests by implementing a client-side etag storage (dumb), but somehow dropbox stopped supporting this as well (or something changed which made my implementation go poof). All problems should be solved now, all file hosting was moved to github (I updated the client links in the thread to my client, those should work once more).
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.
