Nubs missing from tutorial

Hey there, trying to get back into Salem after a year and getting stuck on the tutorial. Go figure.

"Nubs," the character I need to feed some Nuts to in the tutorial, is completely missing (I've screenshared with my bf who completed that part of the tutorial just to confirm that I'm not being thick and not seeing Nubs--he says Nubs is, indeed, missing from the spot in the village where he should be). The Nuts in my inventory are also showing up as question mark-graphics, which is also apparently not normal.

Since I can't progress until I solve this issue, I've come to the forums...

(PS: Yes, I'm aware of the middle-mouse-rotate-camera function and spent like 10 minutes trying to find Nubs with it)

Have you tried to reinstall the game?

I hope you figure this out! the game is fun and hard. Just be careful who you anger

Reinstalling = clearing the Java cache, right?

If that's the case, I'm still having the same problem after doing so.

Which client are you using?

Did you delete both the Salem and the .salem folders before reinstalling?

Have you tried leaving the game running for a few minutes and seeing if it can successfully download all the resources? If your connection to the resource server is slow (it's a different connection than the game server), loading new things can take a little while.

I was using the standard client, though gave Ender's a try to see if that helped.

But, sure enough, deleting Salem and .salem folders did the trick! Thanks everyone for your help.
