Check your mouse drivers out and update them if needed. It is the only thing I can possibly think of, especially if you're using a mouse that requires third party drivers. YOu might try a basic mouse that just needs the default driver. There's been a few complaints on this, but so far nobody has reported much in finding a solution.

Just because it works properly in other games doesn't mean it's not the problem. If you have access and are able to change to a different mouse, I really suggest trying that and seeing if the problem still exists. There very well could be another problem, but a mouse incompatibility is the most immediate.

What is truly odd about this particular issue is that a friend of mine who comes over and plays Salem with me, has the same issue.

What makes it odd though is that he and I have the same wireless mouse - a Logitech M305. His mouse will randomly stop working in the game and he'll have to close it with the console command. Mine, on the other hand, never has an issue.

Both of us are using Windows 7 Ultimate, and neither of us have installed anything special for drivers. Its just the default, plug in mouse Windows finds drivers driver.

The only difference is that he is using a laptop, and I am on a computer, if that helps narrow it down for others.

Sounds like the built-in pointing device isn't disabling or interfering with the mouse when it's attached. It may be necessary to go in and manually disable other pointing devices while playing Salem.

It's been a long while since I've messed with laptops, so my knowledge may be a bit dated. Some laptops will disable the internal device, others will accept input from either. It's in the latter case that there could be a problem.
