Erroneous meat yield on pigs

Postby lachlaan » Sun Oct 04, 2015 10:54 pm

Butchered a size 11 pig, got 1 steak then 1 snout then poof went the piggy. I was under the impression that for there to be 1 steak i needed a size 0 pig.

Wait till you pull that 1 steak off of a cow :/

From what ive seen. ..under 20 gives one steak, but 30s gives 30 steaks.

That sounds quite harsh, especially if you're actually aiming for getting their meat. I was just cleaning up my out of control pig farm :D Can't imagine the formula is based around size surpassing 20, but who knows.

I just tried to butcher an "under 20" dead Ram , but I didn't encounter the same "bug" than you :

I got 19 steak from it (+the hide , brain , bones , sinew) . So maybe something else comes into play when calculating the number of steak ?

I had a few (dozen+) pig fatalities last week. ..I'll cut then up and post the results when home from work.

I should have posted it at the time, but about a week ago I butchered three pigs. Got one steak each. Yesterday I butchered and got a normal amount (20?). Size scores were across the board.

Yeah one of mine with under 20ish or so again yielded 1 steak. Fortunately for me I only butcher what dies on its own inbetween me remembering to feed them. They get no cures, I am applying survival of the fittest so hard to them xD

Lachlaan-Town is invaded by starving pigs ... One day they will try to butcher Lachlaan (how many steaks ???)
For my part , to avoid invasion I tend to abandon some lamb in town in front of the city-church ... Last time he stays 2 days in town before disapearring

On subject : I'm not butchering a lot of my sheep/Ram ; but I never experienced your "bug". But in my opinion 20/30 steaks for a small sheep is way too much !

Bjebr

Edit : Could it be linked to the way they die ? For exemple : they die from starvation = they don't give steak !
