Improved house placement on ridges.

My friends and I have found several great places to place our houses. There's plenty of room and the ground is flat and looks very inviting. But, unfortunately we can't build our homestead fortresses there!

I suggest that house placement is improved so that I can build on a place like the one in the screenshot.

Flatten the ground out and you can do it.

If I wanted to build there I would be able to. You have to dig and move around the dirt to make the ground flat. It is called 'terraforming' and takes some practice to get used to. Try search the forums for threads that have great info about flattening land.
